Ingredients:
1/2 Cup milk, scalded
1/2 Cup sugar
1 1/2 Teaspoon salt
1/4 Cup shortening
1/2 Cup warm water
2 Pkgs. yeast
2 Eggs, beaten
3 Cups flour
Scald milk and stir in sugar, salt and shortening. Cool to luke-warm. In separate bowl, dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup water and add 2 eggs beaten and 3 cups flour and beat until smooth. Stir in additional 2 Cups of flour (approx.) Knead until smooth. Cover & let rise until doubled. Approx. 1 hour. This is basic recipe for all sweet rolls such as cinnamon rolls, braided date cake and cinnamon buns etc.

This is a good soft dough recipe that can easily be made into a variety of shapes including cloverleaf rolls and crescent rolls. We've even use for cinnamon roll dough as well. It is an easy recipe to make, and very good.
