Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Sift together:
2 Cups flour
1 Teaspoon sugar
3 Teaspoons baking powder
1 Teaspoon salt
Cut in:
1/3 cup Crisco shortening (until it looks like cornmeal)
Add:
3/4 cup milk
Stir with fork until smooth. Dump dough onto floured cutting board and knead it lightly 2 or 3 times. Roll dough out to 1/2 inch thickness then fold in half. Cut out biscuits. Place 1 inch apart on cookie sheet that has been brushed with butter.
Brush tops of biscuits with melted butter. Put on middle oven rack. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until brown. Makes about a dozen biscuits. Serves one!

Poppy Seed Muffins with Sour Cream
Excellent any time of the year, but especially good during the fall and winter. The pumpkin flavor is rich and hearty. These are best served with our homemade "Dutch Honey" recipe. This is a rich thick syrup that will last for weeks in the refrigerator. The "Dutch Honey" is also good on ice cream!
