Strawberry Ice Cream
7 Eggs
3 Cups sugar
1/4 plus 1/8 Teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons vanilla
4 (Small boxes) of half and half
2 (Small boxes) of whipping cream
3 3/4 Cups strawberries
3 Tablespoons lemon juice
Milk to fill container
Beat eggs well, gradually add sugar beating constantly until mixture is light and fluffy. Stir in salt, vanilla and juice. Beat in cream add milk and blend thoroughly with egg mixture. Pour into a 6 quart ice cream freezer. Fill to top with milk. Makes six quarts.
Banana Ice Cream
Make same as above but replace strawberries with 4 to 6 ripe bananas. Omit lemon juice and strawberries.
Butterfinger Ice Cream
Add six butter finger bars crushed and 4 to 5 tablespoons instant coffee, dissolved. A little chocolate is also good. Omit lemon juice and strawberries.
Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream
Omit strawberries, and lemon juice and add 1 additional tablespoon vanilla to make a rich homemade vanilla ice cream. We've found that the brand of vanilla is very important. We prefer Watkins or Raleigh's pure vanilla extract. Vanilla ice cream is always a favorite, and is wonderful served with Mom's fresh apple pie or our favorite fresh peach pie!
Strawberry Cheese Cake Ice Cream
My son, Taylor makes a strawberry cheese cake ice cream that is the favorite flavor of his friends! He cubes two slices of strawberry cheese cake (for the Cuisinart freezer) and adds it to the ice cream just before it is completely frozen. Sometimes he adds it even after the ice cream is done... just before putting the ice cream into the freezer.
Fresh Pumpkin Ice Cream
We season fresh pumpkin pie filling with our favorite pumpkin pie spices, and add it to the Cuisinart Ice Cream recipe. It is like eating fresh pumpkin pie with whipped cream!
Don't be afraid to be creative with the Cuisinart. Unlike a 6 quart freezer, you can experiment with unique flavors and not have a huge amount of it! It's fun, and oh so easy!
My Favorite Ice Cream Freezer
I have to share with you my favorite ice cream maker! I have this unit, and I can't tell you how much we love it. It makes 1 1/2 quarts of ice cream in about an hour. Just pour the ice cream mixture into the tub and plug it in. No need for ice, salt, cranking, pre-freezing a container etc. Just pour the ice cream mixture into the bucket and plug in the machine for perfect homemade ice cream every time. Your family will thank you over and over and over again!! It takes less than two minutes to get a batch of home made ice cream into the freezer!
