Prepare recipe for one crust pastry*
Combine in saucepan:
3/4 Cup sugar
2 Tablespoons flour
1/4 Teaspoon nutmeg
1 Teaspoon grated lemon rind
2 Tablespoons lemon juice and
1/2 Cup water
Pinch of salt
Cook stirring constantly, until thickened.
Add:
4 Cups pared, sliced apples (or 1 can sliced apples)
2 Tablespoons butter
Heat to boiling and turn into 8 inch square or 10x6 pan.
Top with:
Pastry crust, cut in triangles or strips, sprinkle with sugar, bake.
Bake at 375 degrees for 25 to 35 minutes.
Tip: Refrigerated ready-to-bake cinnamon rolls may be substituted for pastry. Bake 25 to 35 minutes.
