Ingredients:
2 Cups soft pulp (persimmon)
4 Teaspoons soda (stirred in pulp)
2 Cups sugar
2 Cups flour
3 Teaspoons baking powder
2 Teaspoons vanilla
1 Cup milk
2 Tablespoons melted butter
1 Cup chopped nuts
Mix like cake and bake at 350 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes or until done.
Sauce:
Melt:
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
Mix together.
Add 2 eggs, beat.
Add:
3 teaspoons grated orange
2/3 cup milk
Cook in double boiler until thick.

This is a moist cake with a fabulous cream cheese frosting. We use the jars of carrot baby food instead of grated carrots because they are so easy and the cake is just as good, if not better! This is my son's all time favorite cake, and the most requested cake for a birthdays around our house... When Taylor was a toddler, he called it "chocolate mustards cake". Don't ask me how it got that name!
